The 100 X series is *scape’s annual visual feast of 100 items transformed into artworks by talented young artists - with a twist: the 100 items must be created and auctioned off for a special cause.

Last year, *scape and a team from NTU brought together 100 visual artists to paint on 100 Chairs, raising a total of S$8000 for Singapore Children's Society.

This year the 100 X series takes on the form of 100 outfits created by 50 young fashion designers. The outfits will be auctioned off in support of the Dove Self Esteem Fund and *scape.

FASHION! - Outfits inspired by the strength of a Woman’s Character

50 designers from the Young Fashion Designers Society, Design schools and
Professional youth designers will create street outfits for themselves and their best friend. Their work will be inspired by womanly characteristics of:

The Independent. The Passionate. The Enigma. The Activator. The Environmentalist.

WOMEN! - Outfits adopted or auctioned for Women

Proceeds will benefit women from the Dove Self Esteem fund, which was developed to free the next generation from self-limiting beauty stereotypes. Committed to reaching 5 million young women by the end of 2010, the Dove Self-Esteem Fund seeks to make real change in the way women and young girls perceive and embrace beauty.

FRIENDSHIP! - Outfits showcasing Women and Fashion

The outfits will be inspired by the designers' best friends, and they will also feature in the catwalks and fashion showcase.

About the Young Leaders behind 100 X Strut

Young Fashion Designers Society

YFDS was pioneered in 2008 by ten high flying youth designers with a passion to power Singapore's emergent fashion scene. It is a non-profit organization that aims to create a conducive environment for budding fashion designers, models and stylists by providing exposure opportunities, elevating the profile of the local fashion design scene and grooming promising young talents.

Founders Jane & Joyce Koh say: "100 X Strut this year is about promoting young designers’ talents, and together with other youth leaders from Hwa Chong Institution, we hope to raise as much as we can for the Dove Self Esteem Fund and *scape. We want to send the message that youth can make a difference passionately, and that beauty shines from within."

The Hwa Chong Institution CIP Executive Committee is proud and excited to be part of 100 X Strut. We are committed to making a positive impact on society through the nurturing of youth who will work selflessly at improving the lives of others in the community.

In this regard, our collaboration with *scape and YFDS this year – 100XStrut – is significant. It offers a unique platform for Hwa Chong volunteers to engage actively and creatively in serving the community.

This fundraising event is also special because it combines fashion and friendship to excite youth in spreading the message of maintaining a healthy self esteem, inner beauty and self-acceptance.

We hope that 100 X Strut will inspire youth to give back to the community through the exercise of their many talents.
